PC 4.5 Graphing Secant, Cosecant, Tangent and Cotangent
We will start this lesson by graphing the secant and cosecant graphs. To graph secant and cosecant you will need to know how to graph sine and cosine as well as how to determine all of the information from those equations such as amplitude, period, x-scale, phase shift and vertical translation. We will then use the graphs of sine and cosine to help us graph cosecant and cosecant.
Graphing cosecant and secant with a change in period
Graphing cosecant and secant with a phase shift
Graphing cosecant and secant with a vertical translation
Now well will enter the graphs of tangent and cotangent. To graph tangent and cotangent you will need to understand they not only have a totally different graph from sine and cosine but different period, domain and range. I will show how to graph tangent and cotanget below.
